It helps reduce image payloads and improve page-loading performance without sending images to an external optimization service. Designed for both new uploads and existing media libraries, the plugin combines automatic optimization, configurable quality controls, smart handling for PNG artwork, batch processing, per-image actions, statistics, and cleanup tools in one focused interface. #### Key Features * **Automatic optimization:** Process eligible images when they are uploaded to WordPress. * **WebP and AVIF generation:** Create modern image formats when supported by the server’s image-processing libraries. * **Independent quality settings:** Configure WebP and AVIF quality separately and choose from quality presets. * **Smart PNG handling:** Choose Smart, Quality, or Lossless handling for PNG-to- WebP conversion. The Smart mode preserves transparency using lossless WebP where applicable. * **Smart Content Detection:** Apply separate quality settings for photos and graphics to balance file size and visual detail. * **Large-image protection:** Skip automatic processing when an original image is larger than 10 MB or exceeds 6000 pixels in width or height. These images can still be processed manually. * **Batch conversion and regeneration:** Process existing items in the Media Library, or regenerate optimized versions after adjusting settings. * **Resumable batch processing:** If a batch is interrupted, use Continue to resume from the saved progress in the same browser and website. Clearing browser storage or switching browsers may remove the saved checkpoint. * **Server-block guidance:** Provide guidance for HTTP 403 and temporary request failures that may be caused by hosting security rules, firewalls, rate limits, or related server restrictions. * **Media Library actions:** View optimization status and available WebP/AVIF results, compare file sizes, and run supported actions on individual images. * **Optimized delivery:** Select an available optimized version according to format support and file-size results, while retaining the original as a fallback. * **Statistics and cleanup:** Review optimization results and clean up eligible orphaned generated files. * **Optional uninstall cleanup:** When explicitly enabled in settings, remove generated WebP/AVIF derivatives during uninstall. Original image files are preserved. * **Translation-ready interface:** Includes Arabic translation resources and a POT template for preparing additional language translations through WordPress gettext tools. #### Original Images Stay Intact The plugin creates optimized derivative files and does not replace or overwrite the original JPG, JPEG, or PNG source files. Optimization results and format availability depend on the server’s image-processing capabilities and configuration. #### Recommended Workflow 1. Install and activate the plugin, then review its quality and format settings. 2. Enable automatic optimization for new uploads if desired. 3. Run batch conversion for the existing Media Library. Upload the `kashida-image-optimizer` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory, or install the ZIP from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. 2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen in WordPress. 3. Open Kashida Image Optimizer from the WordPress admin menu. 4. Configure the quality and optimization settings and save. ## FAQ ### Are original images modified? No. Original JPG, JPEG and PNG files are preserved. ### Does the plugin optimize large images automatically? Images over 10 MB or wider/taller than 6000 pixels are skipped during automatic optimization. They can still be processed manually from the Media Library. ### Can I use AVIF without it being enabled? AVIF generation can be enabled when the server supports AVIF encoding. WebP remains available independently. ### Does it work with translation plugins? Yes. The plugin uses the `kashida-image-optimizer` text domain and standard WordPress gettext functions.
